BIOGRAPHY
Hi. My name is Maggie Schmid. I live and work in West Wales. I am constantly inspired by the landscape and colours of this glorious region with its stunning coastline, great rivers winding their way to the sea, rolling hills and deep wooded valleys.

Since we moved here nearly 30 years ago I have at various times owned rather too many smallish horses and large dogs and have comprehensively wrecked a perfectly respectable house and garden in the name of renovation.

Some 10 years ago I discovered the wonderful world of fused glass ( thank you Warm Glass in Wrington). Four years ago we moved to our current home, Dyffryn Cottage. I am now the proud owner of my very own workshop in the garden. I have 2 kilns, far too many books and an awful lot of glass. It is always extremely untidy.

Fusing glass is my passion. It is an artform like no other. Glass is a chameleon substance. Add heat and it transforms from solid to liquid and back again and in the process transforms utterly. Its great fascination lies in its unpredictability. What emerges from the kiln will always be beautiful but not always what was expected.
